What is the difference between wool and merino wool?
Both are natural animal fibers distinguished by their unique characteristics and texture. Tibetan wool is sourced from sheep raised at high altitudes in the Himalayan region, producing long, resilient fibers, naturally rich in lanolin. Merino wool, derived from Merino sheep, is finer and softer in structure, valued for its softness and elevated comfort.
What is the difference between real silk and bamboo silk?
Real silk and bamboo silk share a soft, luminous sheen but differ in origin and performance. Real silk is a natural protein fiber derived from the silkworm cocoons in China, prized for its strength, elasticity, and enduring luxury. Bamboo silk is a regenerated cellulose fiber derived from bamboo, offering a similar softness and sheen, though with reduced durability and best suited for low traffic settings.
What is the difference between handknotted and handtufted rugs?
Handknotted rugs are crafted by individually tying each knot by hand around warp threads, creating an exceptionally durable rug with no backing or adhesives. This traditional process takes approximately five to six months and results in heirloom-quality pieces designed to last for generations.
Handtufted rugs are created using a handheld tufting tool that inserts yarn into a canvas base, which is then secured with a latex backing. With appropriate care and low traffic use, these rugs offer a refined yet durable lifespan of over a decade.
What fibers are available in the handtufted collection?
Our handtufted collection is available in a curated selection of premium materials, including real silk, dull silk, delicate silk, shiny nylon, silky nylon, premium wool, semi-worsted wool, and bamboo silk.
Why isn't my rug the exact color shown on the website?
Every effort is made to represent the colors of our rugs as accurately as possible. However, variations in monitor settings and screen calibration may affect how colors are displayed. For the most accurate representation, we recommend ordering a sample before selecting a full-size rug.
Why isn't my rug the exact size I ordered?
Each rug is individually handcrafted by master artisans, making every piece inherently unique. As a result of this artisanal process, slight variations in size are a natural characteristic of handcrafted rugs. Final dimensions may vary by several inches from the stated size, particularly within our handknotted collection, reflecting the authenticity and individuality of each creation.
What are the lead times?
Handknotted rugs typically require five to six months for production, while handtufted rugs are generally completed within eight to twelve weeks. Custom 1'x1' strike-offs take approximately four to eight weeks, and oversized rugs or stair runners may require additional production time.
Can I cancel my order after it has been placed?
As each rug is meticulously crafted to order, production begins shortly after your order is confirmed. Once your order has been released to our mill, it cannot be canceled. Should you wish to modify the size or color of your rug, we kindly ask that you contact us as soon as possible. While changes cannot be guaranteed, we will make every effort to accommodate requests received within approximately five days of order confirmation.
Where do you ship from?

What are the payment terms?
Handtufted rugs require full payment at the time of the order due to their quick eight to twelve week production lead-time. For handknotted rugs, clients may choose between full payment at the time of purchase or a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance due once the rug has been completed and is ready to depart our Nepalese mill.
