Rug Care & Maintenance – NOVA RUDE

Care & Maintenance

VACUUMING

Regular vacuuming helps preserve the beauty of your rug by removing dust and debris before they can abrade the fibers. To protect the integrity of the pile, we recommend using a vacuum without a beater bar or other high agitation attachments.

SPOT & STAIN REMOVAL

Attend to spills immediately to minimize staining. Gently blot excess moisture with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel, avoiding any rubbing or scrubbing, which may force the stain deeper into the fibers. If needed, lightly dab the area with a damp cloth and diluted pH-neutral detergent. Avoid excessive water and rinse the cloth frequently to prevent soap residue from remaining in the rug. For real silk, use cold water only; for wool, lukewarm water is recommended. Avoid bleach, alkaline cleaners, and chemical cleaning agents, particularly on silk. Dry the affected area promptly to help prevent discoloration. For deep stains, including red wine, oil, or urine, as well as for bamboo silk rugs, we recommend professional cleaning to ensure the best possible care.

FADING

To promote even wear and balanced exposure to natural light, we recommend rotating your rug every six months. As with all natural fibers, subtle fading may occur over time with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

SHEDDING

Light shedding is a natural characteristic of handcrafted rugs, particularly during the first few months of use. This is a normal part of the settling process and can be minimized with regular, gentle vacuuming.

LOOSE FIBERS

If a loose fiber appears, carefully trim it flush with the surface using sharp scissors. Do not pull the fiber, as this may damage the rug's construction.
